Charlottetown, Cavendish, Nova Scotia

Good day everyone! Jon and I drove down to the Province House National Historic Site. This is where the fathers of confederation first discussed the idea of having one nation. We also saw the Legislative Assembly room.

Afterwards, we walked down to the wharf. We saw the St. Dunstan’s Basilica Church. There were a few souvenir shops and ice-cream parlours. Cows, an ice-cream store that is also found in Whistler, was there. We had a Moople walnut ice-cream. After trying maple flavoured ice-cream in Quebec, Jon really likes it. There was a mini pool of water with sea creatures including a lobster with its pinchers tied.

We then drove to Cavendish to see the Green Gables from Anne of Green Gables as well as the author, Lucy M. Montegomery’s residence. The Green Gables was not where Lucy lived. It was actually her grandfather’s brother’s house. The Green Gables area included the Haunted Walk and Lover’s Lane which are described in her books. Jon and I went on the Haunted Walk which was 1 km.

We were disappointed with Lucy Montegomery’s residence as we didn’t get to go inside the house. The original house was destroyed after Lucy left. Her family rebuilt the house and people reside in it now. However, Jon and I felt cheated because we thought we got to go inside the house. We didn’t know the original wasn’t there. All we got to see was the old well and the stone cellar. There were plaques with quotes from her and her books too.

We then drove back to Charlottetown and bought two papa burgers from A and W. It was on the way to the ferry terminal near Wood Island. We took the ferry from PEI to Nova Scotia. It took 75 minutes. There is a Cows ice-cream store here too. I didn’t know it was that popular. We slept through most of the ferry ride.

We’re in Nova Scotia now. We’ll be staying in Port Hastings. Tomorrow, we’ll be waking up at 4am to catch the 6am ferry to Newfoundland.

We just ate a Mclobster. It had lobster mixed with some white sauce, celery and lettuce. It seemed quite healthy. It wasn’t bad tasting either but it was expensive. It was a little over $7 for a hot dog bun size sandwich.

We’re at our motel. It is quite cute. It also has a kitchen. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to us it.

Have a wonderful night everyone!
