Ferry, Halifax

Good day everyone! Jon and I had an interesting time sharing a single bed on the ferry. We booked our bed too late so we were stuck with the top bunk. I had to sleep on the outside so the only thing separating me from the ground is a thin metal rail. I survived and did not fall. Though getting in and out of bed was difficult because I’m vertically challenged. I needed a boost from Jon on several occasions. The moral of the story is: Drink your milk!

Anyways, the ferry arrived late. We got to Nova Scotia at 1 pm when we should have arrived at 10 am. It took 45 minutes to unload too. However, we weren’t bitter because we were too busy watching Anne of Green Gables. If you recall, when we were in PEI, we drove to Cavendish to see the Green Gables. It’s a little over 3 hours long. We managed to finish most of it on the ferry. We have about 20 to 30 minutes left. It is such a wonderful and charming movie. I would recommend it to everyone if you haven’t already seen it.

We had lunch on the ferry. We ordered pork with mash potatoes and vegetables. It was okay.
Most of the day was spent driving from the ferry terminal to Halifax. We did make a stop for ice-cream. I can’t remember where it was but we shared a large “hoof print” ice-cream which had some vanilla, caramel and chocolate bits all mixed up. We didn’t know that large meant 3 scoops of ice-cream. Of course, we finished it without a problem.

There was quite a bit of construction along the way which slowed us down but we made it Halifax at around 7pm. We did manage to slip in a Tim Horton’s run. We had our usual large iced capp and a 12 grain bagel with herb and garlic cream cheese single toasted. At this location, we found a large statue of an aboriginal chief.

We walked around Spring Garden which had lots of shops. However, most of them were closed. I did manage to get a sweater for $20. It’s actually 2 sweaters that are stitched together. The bottom layer is coral coloured and the top layer is grey. It’s quite cute. Originally the sweater was selling for $80 but it 75% off.

We then had Chinese food on Bringham Street. The server was very friendly. We ordered a combo consisting of fried rice, sweet and sour chicken balls, almond guy ding, and a spring roll as well as potstickers and bbq pork egg foo young. For those of you who don’t know what egg foo young is, it’s essentially a Chinese omelette. It has bean sprouts, bbq pork, egg and possibly onion. Jon quite likes this dish. I’m a sweet and sour pork kind of girl. For dessert we got fortune cookies. Mmmmm breakfast! Ha ha.

We’ll be finishing off Anne of Green Gables tonight. Tomorrow we’ll walk along the harbour and drive to Saint John, New Brunswick.

Good night everybody!
